Training is getting intense as Regionals approach, but I'm taking two rest days each week which allows for more intensity.
My asthma started acting up this week so I had to ease off a bit in my training. I was frustrated about it but some tragic news put things in perspective for me.
When I sat down at the end of the CrossFit Games last year I knew I needed to be stronger and better technically. I've seen some improvement and mastered new skills by pushing myself to my limit.
CrossFit is making history this year and I'm enjoying all the excitement surrounding the Open. I'm also finding that this year I care more about beating my former self than anyone on the leaderboard.
This week I made the bitterweet trip home to New Zealand. Although I'll miss my training partners, it was great to share the Open with my community at home.
This week I took a whole extra day off to battle my negative thoughts. As a result, I've trained better, feel happier in my work, and am ready for the Open!
It's crazy to think that my CrossFit journey began with an hour a day of training in my brother-in-law's garage. Now I meet CrossFit legends all the time and am even training with a few.
